if you’re dropshipping from Aliexpress, you’ve likely needed to use some images that weren’t imported by Oberlo. Or maybe you just want to use images from a different supplier? Downloading images from Aliexpress is easy and this article will show you how.
How to download product images from Aliexpress
Back in the day (2016-2017) you could still download images from Aliexpress by simply using the “save as” function and saving them to your computer. Sadly, this is no longer the case.
When you try to download a product image from your Aliexpress supplier now, it will save as a web page and you will get a bunch of files that you don’t need or a .WebP file that you cannot use.
Luckily, there are always alternatives. Here are three quick methods you can use to download images from Aliexpress:
Method #1: Download images by using the screenshot function
An easy way to download images without installing anything is to simply screenshot the images instead. I do this all the time on my MacBook where you can easily do so using CMD + SHIFT + 4 and then dragging over the image.
If you want to do something similar on a windows computer, you’ll need an app like Gyazo.
This is a quick way to download product-images images on the go without much effort. However, there are some better methods I mention below.
Method #2: Download images by converting WebP to JPG
When downloading images from Aliexpress nowadays, you won’t end up with a JPG file but instead you’ll end up with a WebP file. You can’t upload these kinds of files to Shopify so you’ll need to convert them.
You can easily convert them online using a WebP to JPG converter.
Step 1: Simply right click on the image you want to download and select “Save Image As..”, this will save the image as a WebP file.

Step 2: Next you can either google “WebP to JPG converter or just head over to ezgif.

Step3: Here, paste the ‘.WebP’ file you just downloaded from Aliexpress and convert it to a JPEG which you can upload to your Shopify store or edit in Canva or Photoshop.
Alternatively, you can also copy/paste the image address. You can do this by using the “copy image address” instead and then pasting that link in the converter.
Method #3: Downloading images from Aliexpress using AliSave
The most commonly used method by dropshippers to save their product images is with the Alisave extension.
AliSave is a nice, free extension that takes the headache away from downloading images from Aliexpress. This Google Chrome extension is great for downloading multiple Aliexpress images at the same time.

All you have to do is install it from the google chrome webstore.
Once installed, you will notice AliSave icons above the images on every Aliexpress product page. By clicking these, you will instantly download all the images from that Aliexpress supplier!

Alternatively, by navigating to the chrome extension you can also pick exactly what you want to download such as the variants or the description images.

AliSave is a great tool that should be part of every dropshippers arsenal. They have a pro version but that is completely unnecessary. The only real function it has on top of download images is download videos from Aliexpress for which we have a free alternative method available!

Why you should download images from Aliexpress
Dropshippers often rely only on the images they get provided from Oberlo or other fulfilment apps. These apps only take a limited amount of product pictures and often leave out some of the good ones.
This results in Shopify dropshipping stores where all the images look like a carbon copy from Aliexpress or exactly like every other store within their niche. You don’t want this!
Instead, you should use images from multiple suppliers and edit those images to fit your own branding.
Another mistake dropshippers often make is uploading images with branding or a watermark on it from the supplier. Here’s an example of a watermark:

This looks super unprofessional as this is not your own branding, on top of that customers could look up the original supplier and end up finding your product on Aliexpress!
Here’s what it looks like when you remove the watermerk:

This looks a lot more professional and customers won’t find the original source.
Conclusion
That’s it! This article should have covered everything you needed to know about download images from Aliexpress. Now you can download images from multiple suppliers, edit them and upload them to your Shopify store or Facebook ad creatives.
